The Rivers State Chapter of All Progressives Congress [APC] has described as a huge surprise statement credited to the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP], Felix Obuah that former governor Chibuike Amaechi has threatened legal action against Obuah and his party.

APC said that it found the claim hilarious even “after it has been widely published in the local and national media that the former governor has instituted a N300 billion libel suit against Felix Obuah, PDP and others.”

In press statement signed and issued by its Publicity Secretary, Chris Finebone in Port Harcourt, APC said that “It is indeed hilarious that an action already taken and so reported across the local and national print and electronic media in very simple journalistic English should be appearing like some apparition to Felix Obuah and Jerry Needam as threat of litigation.”

The APC stressed that the former governor is seeking from the party and its officials N300 billion for general damages done to him and defamation of his character, reputation and person.

This action by the former governor, according to the statement, was in pursuant to his right to a good name which is every law-abiding citizen is entitled to.

“If this reality has resulted to some hallucination on the part of Obuah and his people, it would be in their interest to wake from their slumber, have a discussion with their legal team and face the stark reality that now stares them in the face. Indeed, they should be getting ready to have their day in court.

“However, if it is true that the duo of Obuah and Needam truly think that what they read about the said action was a mere threat of litigation, then we would like to advise the PDP to urgently provide interpreters to these people in order to address the communication challenges that may be confronting them in discharging their duties as party officers”, the statement concluded.
