The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party says it has uncovered clandestine moves by Governor Chibuike Amaechi to sneak out of the state when the All Progressives Congress loses the February 14 and 28 elections.

This, the PDP argues, is cowardly because it proves the outgoing governor as lacking the spirit of sportsmanship, which is the hallmark of a good leader and politician.

In a statement signed by the Special Adviser on Media to the state Chairman of the party, Jerry Needam, the PDP said Amaechi’s discomfort with the PDP governorship candidate, Nyesom Wike, succeeding him and his preference to seek political asylum outside the country in the event of PDP’s sure victory raises a moral question on his integrity and claim of transparency.

According to the PDP, if Amaechi has nothing to fear for which he wants his “surrogate”, Dakuku Peterside, to cover up for him, there will be no need for the anxiety that has gripped him when the elections are yet to hold.

The party warned that all “Rivers State people, contractors, creditors, consultants and business partners of Amaechi should take note as the PDP government is not ready to inherit any debt incurred under fraudulent and controversial circumstances when it takes over office later this year.”
