An Abuja Federal High Court judge, Justice Abdul Kafarati has withdrawn from the suit by Senate President Bukola Saraki.

Saraki had filed the fundamental rights application through his counsel Ajibola Oloyede, asking the court to quash the corruption charges against him at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) in Abuja over false asset declaration.

At the resumed hearing Tuesday, Justice Kafarati said an online report on Sahara Reporters had accused him of being compromised in the matter with the sum of N2 billion and therefore announced that he will remit the case file back to the Chief Judge of the court, Justice Ibrahim Auta for re-assignment.

It would be recalled that another judge of the court, Justice Ahmed Mohammed in September last year also pulled out of the suit by Saraki over similar allegations by an online publication.
