The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday, advised appointees of Federal Government, in the habit of deriding political parties and their leadership to be respectful and decorous.

The party gave the advice in a statement in Abuja by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, in reaction to recent comments by Prof. Itse Sagay, Chairman Presidential Advisory Committee on Anti-corruption (PACAC).

Sagay had in an interview recently, described APC leadership as “the most unprincipled group of people who are encouraging and accepting rogues in the party’’.

He had added that “when I say rogues, I don’t mean stealing. In literature, when you say someone is a rogue elephant, it means people who are running riot and destroying the party.”

The statement said that Sagay in his arrogance, forgot that it was impossible for him to describe the APC leadership as weak and unprincipled without indicting President Muhamadu Buhari.

It said that this was so, because Buhari was the party’s leader, who had the fundamental responsibility to build it.

The APC added that if Sagay had any iota of respect for the president who appointed him, he would channel his opinions and advice to him on how to make the party stronger and more principled.

“It appears, however, that Sagay does not have anything constructive to say about anything; he only knows how to tear down and assault everyone and everything.

“We want to remind Sagay and other government appointees that the only reason they occupy their current position is because the APC won the 2015 presidential election.

“You cannot love the fruit and hate the tree that produced it,” the party stressed.
