The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday said it had recognised that the election of Senator Abubakar Saraki as the Senate president was legitimate.

The National Chairman of APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, gave the indication while fielding questions from State House correspondents in Abuja.

Odigie-Oyegun said that the election was one of the challenges the party had to face but added that it would wriggle out of it and the party had accepted him as the Senate President.

“Of course, he has been duly elected by his colleagues. End of Story. We have a reality, and we must live with it.”

The chairman said that was not the end of the party as some people had insinuated. “No! It is not the first or second time we have passed through and we came out stronger.

“This may not even be the last time, we come out every time stronger and more determined.”

Odigie-Oyegun said that what happened to the APC was within the APC family and that the officials were taking steps to address it within the family.

“People say they are going to court which is their right; but as a party we are taking a look at everything and I assure you we are coming out stronger,” he said.

He said there was no ill feelings that the Senate President shunned a meeting with the party and the executives were not interested in “making a song and dance of it.”
