The All Progressives Congress, APC, governors from Nigeria’s Southwest region, including the host governor, Rauf Aregbesola, stayed away from the Interdenominational service held for late Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, at the Enuwa Square Ile-Ife, Osun state, on Friday.
Aregbesola, who was said to have traveled to Lagos for an emergency meeting, was represented by the secretary to the state government.
However, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Ondo state Governor, Olusegun Mimiko, some traditional rulers attended the event.
Bishop of Ife Diocese of the Anglican Communion, Rt. Rev. Oluranti Odubogun, represented by Rev. Olusola Akanbi, who delivered the service homilies, said that despite the riches, Oba Sijuwade died when it was God’s time to take him away.
