Dino Melaye, senator representing Kogi west, has arrived Lokoja, Kogi state, where is to be arraigned for allegedly arming thugs for kidnapping and armed robbery.
The senator was conveyed to Lokoja in an ambulance by the police.
Melaye had expressed worry that his life was in danger and may be killed if he stands trial in Lokoja.
On Wednesday, the Kogi senator was re-arrested by the police after he was granted bail by a magistrate court in Abuja.
The court had granted him a N90 million bail and asked him to provide two sureties.
But the police explained that the bail granted to the senator by the court does not cover the alleged offences for which he was first arrested for and insisted that he would be arraigned at the court where charges had been filed against him.
“The police investigation team re-arrested senator Dino Melaye today, 2nd May, 2018 after his arraignment at chief magistrate court, Wuse for the pending offences of criminal conspiracy and unlawful possession of prohibited firearms already filed in a court of competent jurisdiction in Lokoja for which he will be arraigned without further delay,” a statement issued by the police read.
Also, Ibrahim Idris, inspector-general of police (IGP), has twice failed to appear before the senate over the issue.
He was also summoned by the upper legislative chamber over growing security concerns in the country.
