Against the backdrop of dwindling economic fortunes, stakeholders in the business sector will converge in the ancient city of Ile-Ife, Osun state on Saturday to brainstorm on effective strategies for doing business in Nigeria.
The event, scheduled to hold at Obafemi Awolowo University Oduduwa Hall, was part of the three-day annual national reunion of Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates’ Association (UNIFEMGA).
According to a statement by its National President, Prof. Wahab Egbewole, a business tycoon, Dr Wale Babalakin (SAN), is expected to deliver a lecture on the theme “Doing Business in Nigeria: Challenges of a Muslim Practitioner.”
Babalakin, who doubles as the Chairman of Bi-Courtney Construction Company, would be assisted by an Economist, Ahmed Tunde Popoola, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of CRC Credit Bureau Limited, as a Lead Discussant.
The statement indicates that other renowned economists will be among the discussants, while Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, Secretary-General, Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, would chair the occasion.
Egbewole said the Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Prof. Tale Omole will be the special guest of honour while Malam Yusuf Ali, SAN and Rafiu Ebiti were the Guests of Honour.
He said that the public lecture was part of the Association’s contribution towards creating enabling environment for business activities in the country for the benefit of the incoming new government.
Highlights of the three-day events which start on Friday May 8 include special Jumat service, courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor, Annual General Meeting and empowerment programme for the students.
Others include handing over of the 30- year old multi-million naira OAU central mosque project to the Muslim Community, Retreat for Couples in a Family Picnic and visitation to UNIFEMGA student hostel projects.
Other events were scholarship for the students, keep fit exercise, novelty match, visitation to UNIFEMGA student hostel projects and Press Conference marking the end of the conference.
Over 250 delegates are expected to grace the reunion from all the branches both in Nigeria and in the Diaspora.
