Former Sokoto State Governor, Attahiru Bafarawa, has donated N10 million and four Peugeot 406 cars to the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Bafarawa who announced the donations in Sokoto during a reception organised in honour of members of the PDP Caretaker Committee in the state, said that the donation was to aid the committee in its assignment and called for unity among party leaders and members in the state.
According to him, “it is only with unity that the party can sweep all the elections in the state and Nigeria in 2015”.
The state Deputy Governor, Mukhtari Shagari, also donated N1 million and a 16-seater bus to the caretaker committee of the party in addition to a pledge of N2 million monthly as long as the assignment of the committee lasted.
He said that PDP was intact in the state, saying that it was the only national party in Nigeria. “United we stand, divided we fall, I can assure you that if we remain united, the PDP will take over the state in 2015,“ he said.
Also, Senators Abubakar Gada, Abdallah Wali and former Minister of Sports, Alhaji Yusuf Suleiman, donated N1 million each to the committee.
In addition, Gada also donated a Peugeot 406 to the party’s security committee and pledged N3 million monthly as long as the assignment of the caretaker committee lasted.
In his remarks, a former Minister of Communications, Arzika Tambuwal, said that the party would soon commence the registration of its old and new members in the state.
Responding to the donations, Abdullahi Shantali, Chairman of the party’s caretaker committee in the state, thanked the party chieftains for their gesture and promised that the committee would live above board to ensure unity and victory for the party in the state.
