Bi-Courtney Aviation Services (BASL) has signed agreement with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to operate regional flights from the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two (MMA2), Lagos.
Bi-Courtney’s Chairman, Wale Babalakin, announced this at a Breakfast Meeting titled, “Ownership, viability, safety and security of Nigerian airports,” in Lagos on Wednesday.
The event was organised by an aviation stakeholders group, Aviation Safety Round Table Initiative (ASRTI).
Babalakin explained that the agreement with the operator was to allow the terminal operate regional international flight to Ghana.
He said that the company had met the conditions set by Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for the commencement of the flight operation even though it was yet to get its approval.
“NCAA has been invited to inspect the facility and the agency has given us conditions that must be met and these conditions have been fulfilled and we are waiting for the implementation,” Babalakin said.
He also disclosed that the firm had signed a fresh agreement with FAAN on the four- star hotel directly opposite the multi-story MMA2 Car Park.
Babalakin alleged that some people had wanted to convert the project to FAAN offices but that the idea wasn’t successful
According to him, airport development can only manifest in the Nigerian aviation sector if Nigerians harness the potential that the country has.
The Bi-courtney chairman said that for the aviation to be developed, the rule of law must be followed to protect the violation of concession agreements.
