The voting has been stalled in at least two areas of Gombe State following attacks by suspected Boko Haram insurgents.
Bloomberg news agency quoted a resident, Aminu Kabiru as saying the suspected terrorists in cars and motorcycles started shooting sporadically in Shole.
“Gunmen in cars and motorcycles began sporadic shooting” in Shole, Aminu Kabiru, said by phone.
In Dukku, also in Gombe state, gunmen at about 11:30 a.m. assaulted the town and burnt a police station, a bank and stopped voters from registering, Haruna Duku, a trader, told Bloomberg.
In both places, voters dispersed.
