Boko Haram terrorists on Tuesday morning ambushed the convoy of the Acting General Officer Commanding 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Victor Ezugwu.

The attack took place at about 8.30am while Ezugwu was on his way to Bama in Borno State to visit troops stationed in the town.

One soldier was killed during the ambush, while two others were injured.

However, the soldiers in the GOC’s convoy were able to clear the ambush, killing some of the terrorists and recovering a vehicle and weapons from them.

The recovered items included a Toyota Hilux vehicle, two AK-47 rifles and several ammunitions.

The Acting GOC has continued his operational visit to Bama, while the body of the late soldier and the wounded have been evacuated to Maiduguri.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, was also reported to have spoken with Ezugwu after the attack.
