Soldier, female suicide bomber , 4 others die in Kano blast

A twin blast that simultaneously rocked a Catholic Church and police check point in Kano claimed the life of a soldier, a suicide bomber and 4 others Sunday afternoon.

The Kano Commissioner of police, Adelenre Shinaba told reporters in Kano that the attack on Saint Charles Catholic Church located at Zungeru road, Sabon Gari, Kano occurred shortly after the Sunday mass when an object suspected to be Improvised Explosive Device was thrown at the church from the opposite direction.

Shinaba explained that the blast killed a soldier, a toddler and three others and that eight other worshippers sustained various degree of Injury during the attack.

The police boss also revealed that a 15 years old female suicide bomber blew up herself at a police nipping point leaving 5 personnel injured.

Shinaba said that the incident occurred at Gidan Murtala by Kofar Nassarawa overhead bridge around 1.00pm, adding that 4 of the affected officers have been treated and discharged.
