The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has reacted to the demise of the father of Senator Ali Ndume, Alhaji Buba Ndume.
In a condolence message signed by his Spokesman, Garba Shehu, Buhari described the late Ndume as “a great father who was a great inspiration to his children.”
Buhari was quoted to have said, in a message to Senator Ndume, that he was profoundly touched by the death of the Senator’s father, describing him as a gentleman.
“I was touched profoundly by the passing of your father Alhaji Buba Ndume, a gentleman whose outstanding qualities can be seen in the conduct of his own children, including your good self.
“Distinguished Senator, I received the news of the death of your dear father with great shock. A father is an invaluable part of our lives. The pain of such loss is unimaginable.
“While you mourn the passing of your great father, I pray that Allah forgives his shortcomings and rewards his noble deeds with paradise. May God comfort you at this difficult moment, Amin,” Buhari said.
Ndume, who represents Borno-South Senatorial District at the Senate, made the announcement in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday.
He said his late father, an accomplished community leader, was buried on Tuesday in Maiduguri, the Borno State Capital.
The statement read in part, “This is to regrettably announce the death of Alhaji Ali Buba Ndume, father of Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume. He died this morning in Maiduguri.
“May Allah SWT forgive his shortcomings and comfort his family for this irreplaceable loss.
“The funeral prayer for the repose of the soul of late Alhaji Ali Buba Ndume, father of senator Mohammed Ali Ndume is scheduled to take place by 4 pm at Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume residence, Damboa road near NTA Maiduguri office.”
