President Muhammadu Buhari has been sworn in as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces by the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Mahmud Muhammed.
The ceremony which commenced at about 9a.m. at Eagles Square, Abuja on Friday, also witnessed the swearing in of the Vice President-elect, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, by the CJN.
President Buhari immediately released pigeons signifying unfettered peace and harmony of the nation after taking the oath of office.
This was followed by 21-gun salute, colour-parade, match past in slow and quick order as well as military display by men of the Brigade of Guards of Nigerian Army
The event was attended by past Nigerian leaders and world leaders, including John Kerry, U.S. Secretary of State who represented President Barack Obama.
