Cleric tasks Muslims on charity during Ramadan

The chief Iman of the Al-Hidayyah Central Mosque, Olambe, in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State, Sheikh Kamorudeen Yunus has urged Nigerian Muslims to intensify their charity giving, spiritual purification and prayers for the country during Ramadan.

Sheikh Yunus who made the call during the Friday Jumat sermon which centered on the essence and preparation for the 2014 Ramadan fast, explained that the holy month is a time for human beings to come together to renew their good deeds.

The imam advised Nigerians to engage in more spiritual activities, ask for forgiveness of sins and strive to attain righteousness and piety, stressing that fasting in the month of Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam, which every Muslims must strive to observe diligently.

He noted that it is compulsory for all genuine Muslims to fast except for those exempted by the holy Quran and advised Muslims to wait for the sighting of the moon by leaders with proven integrity before commencing the fast.

He warned that Muslims who commences fasting before the announcement of sighting of the moon would be doing so against Allah’s injunction.Sheikh Kamorudeen Yunus said that every Muslims must strive to take maximum advantages of the benefits that comes with the holy month of Ramadan but warned against indulging in practices that run contrary to the doctrines as stated in the Quran and the Sunnah of the Holly Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).
