Ketu community in Yewa North local government area of Ogun State has raised an alarm over the activities of Fulani herdsmen, which have led to the death of no fewer than 20 people.
The community, which comprises four villages, including Eggua, Ijoun, Ebute and Ohunbe, said its people were no longer safe and, therefore, petitioned Ogun State governor, Ibikunle Amosun, over the matter.
It also vowed to mobilise its people to vote against the governor in 2015, should he fail to address the security situation in the area.
The community in an open letter addressed to the governor, by Secretary-General of Ketu Advancement Front, Joseph Bankole, said:”By our record, over 20 people had been killed as at February 2014.
“Suffice to say that the victims and their towns had been made available to the State government and the state House of Assembly.
“We like to note with regret that since Tuesday, December 17,2013 that the MoU was signed, the state government has shown no commitment towards its implementation.
“With about seven months for the tenure of the state governor to end, we have come to the conclusion that the APC government is a woeful failure to Ketu people.
“We have decided to write this open letter to reiterate our resolve to galvanize our people towards defining a common course of action as well as mobilising them against any government that is insensitive to our yearnings and aspirations as we approach another general elections, the same way we did to the last government.
“Lastly, it is imperative to also put the issue of APC on record for posterity sake as we did with the last government.
“It is against this backdrop that we declare the APC government a total failure to the people of Ketu constituency as well as pas a vote of no confidence on the party while we await to unfold further steps to be taken.
