The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered that a former Adamawa State Governor, Murtala Nyako, and his son, Abdulaziz, who were arraigned in the court for alleged money laundering, be remanded in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
EFCC had dragged Nyako and his son before Justice Evoh Chukwuthe on a 37 counts money laundering charges, 17 of which the former governor and his son pleaded not guilty.
The accused are to be remanded in custody till Friday when their bail application will be heard following an application by the ex-governor’s counsel, Kanu Agabi, SAN, pleading for time to familiarise with the charges.
EFCC had on Tuesday arrested Nyako, his son and former Governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim.
