An Ikorodu High Court in Lagos State on Wednesday ordered that the Surveyor-General of the state, Mr Olorunjuwon Ajenla, should be committed to police custody for disobeying the court order.

The Judge, Justice M.A Savage, gave the directive when Ajenla appeared before the court on Tuesday, following a bench warrant issued against him.

The court issued the bench warrant against the surveyor-general on Nov. 17.

Savage held that the surveyor-general failed to obey a court order for his office to provide the court with a composite plan of a disputed land case before it.

He said that the surveyor-general was served an enrolment order by the court on Dec. 15, 2013, and was also summoned to appear before the court, which he failed to do.

Savage said that his non-appearance and disobedience had frustrated the land matter before the court, with Suit No. IKD/106/10, between Alhaji Muhammed, Chief K.A. Olutusin and others Versus Chief Sikiru Ogidi and others.

The court held that Ajenla should remain in the police custody pending a formal contempt charge.

The judge, thereafter, adjourned the matter to Nov. 27, for mention.
