The Akwa Ibom Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Paul Ekpo, has said that there was no crack in the state’s party structure.
Ekpo who disclosed this to newsmen in Uyo after inaugurating the Finance Building Committee of the party, said that the party remained united in spite of alleged uproar that characterised the recent working committee meetings of some PDP members in the state.
The chairman advised aggrieved members of the party against anti party activities that could scuttle the party’s success in the 2015 elections.
“Let me use the party platform to condemn vehemently, the purported meeting held at Amazing Grace in Uyo on Tuesday (April 15) by some people who call themselves PDP elders in the state.
“The PDP Akwa Ibom State chapter strongly warns those who parade themselves as PDP elders to desist from all activities and actions that can adversely affect the unity of our great party in the state,” Ekpo said.
The chairman noted that this was not a period for disunity in the party and urged members to focus on how the party would succeed in the 2015 general elections.
He warned members not to be distracted by a few dissenting voices as the party would always uphold the principles of justice, fairness and equity as enshrined in its constitution.
Ekpo urged members of the committee to ensure the broadening and sustainability of the party’s revenue base and charged them to plough the party funds into long- term viable ventures such as securities and real estates.
The finance committee is headed by State Commissioner for Works, Don Etim, while the building committee is headed by the Commissioner for Special Duties, Emmanuel Enoidem and the committee is mandated to organise fund raising dinner in line with the extant laws.
