A Nigerian Air Force Dornier-228 aircraft, with call sign NAF030, has crashed into a house at Ribadu Cantonment, at the Old Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna.
Though no casualty was recorded on ground, there were no survivors among the passengers onboard the aircraft, which was Abuja bound and had taken-off at about 6:45am from the Kaduna Military Airfield before the mishap.
Bodies of the passengers have been recovered and fire fighters are already at the crash site to curtail fire from spreading to other buildings within the vicinity.
The military aircraft was said to have crashed into a residential building within the neighborhood NDA, igniting fears that the casualty figure could be high.
It was gathered that there were no survivors in the crash.
The Director of Public Relations and Information of the Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Dele Alonge, who confirmed the crash, said that the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar which was billed to be in Port Harcourt on Saturday, had to cancel his official trip to visit the site of the air crash and families of some of the deceased personnel.
The CAS was said to have visited Kaduna in company of the Air Officer Commanding Training Command, Air Vice Marshal Alikali Mamu.
The CAS has also set up an investigation panel headed by an Air Vice Marshal to unravel the cause of the accident with immediate effect.
It was gathered the captain, the co-pilot, the board technician and four passengers were involved in the crash.
The North-West Zonal Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency, Musa Ilallah, confirmed the crash and the casualty figure.
