Some members of the Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party on Tuesday called for the resignation of the State Chairman of the party, Felix Obuah.

Over 250 angry members of the party, who were mainly youths, stormed the State PDP Secretariat, located on Aba Road in Port Harcourt at about 8am, chanting war songs.
The protesters, who came to the party secretariat in about 40 buses, claimed that Obuah had not been carrying them along in the scheme of things.
The youths, who decried the leadership style of the state party chairman, accused him of financing the Grassroots Development Initiative to the detriment of the state PDP.
Majority of the youths, who criticised the Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike, for his self-seeking attitude, were members of Kengema Unity Forum and Egberipapa Leadership Foundation.
Some of the messages on the placard displayed by the protesters read, ‘Felix Obuah, Resign Now’, ‘GDI is Wike’s platform for his Governorship Ambition’ and ‘Obuah, You have failed PDP in Rivers State’.
One of the protesters, a member of a group belonging to a former militant leader, said the protesters were tired of being sidelined by the state PDP chairman.
The youth, who gave his name as Peterside, explained that the only solution was for the state chairman to leave his current position and allow the party to move forward.
He said, “We are not happy with Bro Felix Obuah. How could he be funding GDI without remembering that the state PDP need to be financed with available funds?
“We should not be marginalised in the PDP. Money meant for the PDP should be used for the development of the party and not for another reason.”
