The Cross Country Limited boss, Bube Okorodudu, was on Monday arraigned before a Lagos State High sitting in Ikeja over an allegation of N2.8m theft leveled against him and others.

Okorodudu and others are facing an eight counts bordering on conspiracy, stealing, forgery and altering, preferred against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, based on an allegation that he, with others, fraudulently sold 17 units of Volkswagen transporters buses belonging to AG Moeller Ltd. and Adeloye Olukemi.

The court dismissed the preliminary notice of objection filed by Okorodudu and the others challenging EFCC’s power to prosecute them before the State High Court.

Their counsel, Robert Clarke (SAN) and Ladi Williams (SAN) had filed an application arguing that the EFCC would require a fiat from the attorney-general before it could be deemed empowered to prosecute the defendants before the state high court for the alleged offences.

Justice Lateef Lawal-Akapo dismissed the application for “lacking merit” and subsequently adjourned till June 27, 2014 for arraignment.
