The Seme Border Area Command of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted a large quantity of suspected adulterated drugs smuggled into the country.
Four suspects were also arrested including drivers of the truck which smuggled the drugs into the country.
The drugs including Morphin and Diclofenac, according to the Area Controller, Dera Nnadi, were seized on May 9, by operatives on routine patrol.
Nnadi said the products did not have NAFDAC registration numbers and were all almost expired.
He said the consignment raised suspicion because they were imported through the land border.
He said preliminary investigations revealed that the drugs were being moved to Kaduna through Abuja, expressing concerns that another recent seizure of over 500 parcels of Cannabis Sativa was also discovered to be headed to Kaduna.
