Minister of Interior, retired Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau, has assured foreign investors of adequate security and the enabling environment for business in Nigeria.

The Minister gave the assurance when the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Gu Xiaojie, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja on Tuesday.

He said the Federal Government was working round the clock to ensure adequate security of lives and property of Nigerians and foreign investors in a bid to reposition the country.

“The Ministry of Interior is working hard to ensure internal security and protection of lives and property.

“We want to assure foreign investors of the enabling environment for their businesses to thrive in Nigeria in line with the Federal government’s change agenda,” he said.

He described the relationship between Nigeria and China as cordial and stressed the need to strengthen it in a mutually beneficial way.

Earlier, Xiaojie said the visit was meant to strengthen the bilateral relations between both countries.

He said the just-concluded Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit in South Africa was meant to strengthen the relationship between China and Africa.

The envoy said China was willing and ready to invest in virtually all sectors of the Nigerian economy as part of efforts to mutually develop both countries.

He said Nigeria-China strategic partnership, which is in its 10th year, was meant to strengthen diplomatic ties between both countries and share experiences in nation building.

Xiaojie also said that China was ready to assist the Ministry of Interior in its renewed plan to reposition and ensure better internal security in Nigeria.
