Popular Nigerian singer, D’banj (Dapo Oyebanjo) has been dragged to court by a creditor who claimed the singer was owing him a sum of N60 million, according to a report published online.
The creditor, Henry Ojogho, the Vice Chairman of Broron Group and Vice chairman of Mindhub Technologues, said he gave the money to D’banj as a loan, and the White Lion as D’banj is popularly called has refused to pay back.
Though there were rumours that D’banj had made a move to settle the case out of court, a Lagos State High Court judge has however signed an order that the Writ of Summons be pasted on the wall of D’banj’s residence in Lekki, Lagos. The suit is expected to come up for hearing on January 25, 2015 at the Multi-door Courthouse, Obalende, Lagos.
Ojogho said D’banj through DKM Media Limited, obtained a loan of over N60m from him in January 2013 and has not paid back the said sum despite signing an undertaking to do so.
Before the case was taken to court, D’banj was served a warning letter by Henry Ojogho dated September 13, 2013, with the letter stating:
