Governor of Bayelsa State, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson, has expressed shock at the death of Hannah Dideolu Awolowo, wife of the late political sage, Obafemi Awolowo.

Dickson, in a statement by his chief press secretary, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, commiserated with the “immediate and extended families on the death of Mama who was the matriarch of the great Awolowo family.

“It is unfortunate that Mama died at a time when she was just getting ready to celebrate her hundredth birthday.”

The Countryman Governor also commiserates with the Ogun State Government and the good people of Ogun State for this great loss.

“While we mourn Mama’s passage, we take solace in the fact that she left a worthy legacy behind, as Mama H.I.D will no doubt be remembered and celebrated as a woman of uncommon strength and virtue who stood by her late husband and was able to sustain Pa Awolowo’s incredible political legacies and values.”

Governor Dickson prays that God grants the family the fortitude to bear her irreparable loss.
