A civil rights activist and former member of the House of Representatives, Otunba Dino Melaye on Monday clinched the ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to contest for Kogi West Senatorial District in the 2015 general election.
He will slug it out with the incumbent Senator and former National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Smart Adeyemi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Adeyemi’s victory was shocking as he upstaged Tunde Ogbeha and Gen. David Jemibewon (retd) and defeated their anointed ‘son’.
The Chairman, APC Primary Election Committee in Kogi State, Engr. Ebitei Francis and Secretary, Hon. Bala Ajeje, declared Dino Melaye winner having scored 2, 077 votes to defeat his rival, Bidemi Adeyemi, who scored 326 votes in the primary election which took place in Kabba.
