DJ Cuppy has declared her support for Keir Starmer, the British politician, ahead of the UK elections on July 4.

In May, Rishi Sunak, the UK prime minister, announced that he would dissolve the parliament and call a general election.

Starmer is the UK Labour Party’s candidate for prime minister in the elections.

In a social media post on Monday, Cuppy shared photos of herself with Starmer and his wife Victoria Alexander in London.

In the accompanying caption, she emphasised the need for change while urging citizens to vote for Starmer.

“While it’s unlike me to pick a side (and yes, no political party is perfect), sometimes a change is necessary,” she said.

“In this country, your voice matters. So get involved and make a difference this Thursday.”

Labour and the Conservatives are the two political parties that have dominated the UK in the 20th and 21st centuries.

The Conservatives are currently led by Rishi Sunak, who took over from Liz Truss in October 2022.

The party has been in power for the past 14 years, appointing five different prime ministers.

On the other hand, the last Labour government was led by Gordon Brown, who led the UK from 2007 to 2010.

Starmer has served as the leader of the Opposition and leader of the Labour Party since 2020.

The 61-year-old politician was a member of parliament (MP) for Holborn and St Pancras from 2015 to 2024.

Starmer is leading his party in the general election, with a focus on the prospect of a change of government.
