The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, on Wednesday sacked the House Committee Chairman on Appropriation, Abdulmumin Jibrin.
Jibrin was removed at plenary on Wednesday and was immediately replaced by Hon. Mustapha Bala Dawaki (APC-Kano), who hitherto chaired the Committee on Housing.
Recalled that Jibrin was enmeshed in a controversy following revelations that he allocated projects worth over N4 billion to his Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency of Kano State during the consideration of the 2016 Appropriation Bill.
Following the revelation, several members had demanded for his resignation, but Dogara had prevailed on them to shelve their demands.
However, Jibrin’s undoing may be based on the fact that he was one of those opposed to the institutionalisation of immunity for Pricipal Officers of the Senate.
