The Eggon Youth Movement (EYM) on Saturday endorsed Labaran Maku, the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), as its only candidate.

The group made the endorsement at a meeting held at the Eggon Community Secondary School, Nassarawa-Eggon Local Government Area of the state.

Speaking at the meeting, the National President of the movement, Daniel Ayubuga, said that the decision was a reflection of all Eggon youths nationwide.

He said Maku’s vision and plans to restore peace in the area and encourage development of the state informed the movement’s decision to support him.

“We undertook a study of all the major candidates for governorship in Nasarawa State and discovered that Maku has good intentions to unite and develop the state.

“We have observed that the majority of political opinions across Nasarawa State have leaned towards Maku because of his pedigree, antecedents, clear vision, mission, political stability, humility and performance in all the offices he has held.

“Maku is the most widely accepted choice for governorship of Nasarawa State for the 2015 gubernatorial election among all contenders.

“We hereby resolve to deploy all available resources to embark on relentless mobilisation to support the election of Labaran Maku as governor of Nasarawa State in February,” he said.

Ayubuga, therefore, called on all indigenes of the state, irrespective of their religious, tribal and political party differences, to support Maku to be the next governor of the state

Also speaking, Mohamadu Kwala, the Lima of Angwan Waje, Yazawa, Lafia, said he had mobilised people to prayers for Maku’s success at the polls.

He described Maku as a humble and focused leader whose antecedents showed him to be a highly dedicated person “capable of addressing the problems confronting the state.“

Responding, Maku expressed gratitude to the community and religious leaders present at the meeting for the confidence they had reposed in him.

He promised to run an all-inclusive government where all tribes and adherents of all religions would be treated equally if elected.

He said he would ensure peace and unity between the different tribes and religions in the state.

He also promised to transform Nasarawa State and create employment for the youth.
