Security agents have arrested the Vice Chancellor of the Ekiti State University (EKSU), Prof Samuel Oye Bandele, for organising thugs to snatch ballot boxes in Ijesamodu in Ilejemeje Local Government of Ekiti State to help PDP win today’s governorship election.

Also arrested is the Chairman of the Local Government, Sunday Awolola, who was held by the police at Eda Oniyo while moving around with thugs to snatch ballot boxes.

Our correspondent reports that immediately he sighted security agents, he and his thugs fled from their vehicles and ran to the bush. A hot chase yielded them to the police.

Bandele was accused by the Kayode Fayemi Campaign Organisation last week for allegedly plotting with INEC to rig poll in favour of PDP, with the campaign group alleging that he connived with Governor Ayodele Fayose to postpone students examinations by keeping students on campus to enable him justify the number of votes that will be returned on campus in today’s election.

He denied the charge, but on Saturday, he was in his local government moving around with thugs snatching ballot boxes to help PDP win the election.

Both Ilejemeje chairman and Bandele are being transferred to the police headquarters in Ado-Ekiti.
