The former Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) Chris Olakpe, a retired Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) is dead.
He was said to have died in Lagos on Sunday.
Isaac Adetimiro, LASTMA director of research and statistics, who reportedly, confirmed the incident said nobody knew the Olakpe was ill and he did not show any sign of sickness.
“We heard about it this morning. He did not show any sign of any sickness. We are really shocked,” he was quoted to have said.
The deceased was a graduate of sociology and anthropology from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos.
He joined the Nigerian police force as a cadet assistant superintendent in 1980 and rose through ranks to become the assistant inspector-general of police.
The 66-year-old was appointed as LASTMA Chief Executive Officer by former Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.
