Former People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Anambra State, Chief Kodilichukwu Okelekwe, has dumped his party for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Ex PDP chieftain, told reporters in Nibo, Awka South local government area of the State that the speedy execution of the 2nd Niger Bridge project linking Delta and Anambra states was enough reason for Igbo to give APC adequate support

Okelekwe said that looking at the political equation in the country, the interest of Igbo could be better served in APC, adding that it was his reason for dumping PDP.

Though according to him, Ndigbo had not got it all in the present administration, but the fact that the APC controlled government was executing the bridge project and others in the zone meant that the party had the interest of the people at heart

He said the Bridge would have a multiplier effect on the economy of the South East and South – South, which he said was enough for the people to appreciate President Muhammadu Buhari administration and identify with his political party.

Okelekwe said, “Notwithstanding that Igbo gave PDP 100% support and the party was in power for 16 years, no meaningful project was attracted to the South East.

“The party promised to build 2nd Niger Bridge under Public Private Partnership, PPP, but under APC, the project is being funded 100% by government.

“Similarly, the Zik mausoleum in Onitsha was abandoned for years and it is APC government that completed it and made it a tourist attraction.

“With Anambra governorship election coming up next year, this is the time the people of the state should appreciate APC by voting overwhelmingly for the party during the election.

“The fact that PDP is in disarray has paved the way for APC to take over as it is obvious that the party will disintegrate after its primaries because nobody there wants to serve under anybody. As for APGA, that one is a living dead and will soon go into oblivion.

“Only APC is maintaining the momentum, with many prominent people in the state joining the party. I therefore have no iota of doubt in my mind that the 2021 Anambra election will be a walkover for APC.

“We will start grass root mobilization immediately and ensure that the right people are elected to run the affairs of the party at all levels,” he said.
