The Federal Government has declared Friday, January 2, 2015 as public holiday to mark this year’s Maolud Nabbiy celebration, few days after declaring January 1, 2015 as public holiday to mark the New Year.

Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Makaji Abdulahi, urged Muslim faithful and all Nigerians to pray for the peace and unity of the country.

Moro appealed to Nigerians to engage in only violent-free activities in the run off to the 2015 general elections.

The minister also enjoined citizens to support President Goodluck Jonathan’s transformation agenda, which is geared towards moving Nigeria to the next level of development.

Moro wished all Muslim faithful and Nigerians a very peaceful celebration.
