The Federal Aviation Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) says it will close Yakubu Gowon Airport in Jos for one week.

The agency made the announcement in a statement posted on its official X handle on Wednesday.

FAAN said the airport will be closed from September 23 to September 29, for runway maintenance.

The agency advised air travellers to take note of the development and make alternative travel arrangements during the period.

“This is to inform the public, Airport users, and stakeholders that Yakubu Gowon Airport, Jos will be temporarily closed to flight operations from 23rd September to 29th September 2023 for Airport Runway maintenance.” the statement reads.

“The management regrets any inconveniences this might cause to our esteemed customers.”

In 2020, the airport underwent renovation work to attract more airlines and passengers to the route.

Recently, Caleb Mutfwang, governor of Plateau, inaugurated an Abuja-Jos direct flight to further improve the quality of transportation in the state.

The development came after the state government signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with ValueJet Airline.
