A French priest, Georges Vandenbeusch, has been kidnapped in northern Cameroon, and checks are under way to establish the circumstances and the identity of the kidnappers, the French Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.
The ministry said Vandenbeusch was seized in the night of Wednesday to Thursday in the region of Koza, some 30 kilometers (19 miles) from the Nigerian border, an area considered to be at high risk for kidnappings.
