The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ota, Ogun, on Thursday said the command would deploy additional officials to the highways in Ota and its environs, from June 23 to June 29, to ensure a crash- free Eid-el-Fitri celebration.
Adekunle Oguntoyinbo, the Sango-Ota Unit Commander of FRSC, who disclosed this in an interview said that the deployment of more FRSC personnel would put drivers on check and reduce road crashes, during the period.
The Eid-El-Fitri would be celebrated between June 26 and June 27 by the Muslim faithful.
According to him, the FRSC patrol vehicles and its personnel would be on the highways during the celebration, to ensure safety and sanity on the roads.
Oguntoyinbo, however, advised the people to be careful and desist from drinking while driving.
“The people should not be carried away by the celebration because they are celebrating, but they should always remember that their lives are important to them,’’ he said.
The unit commander implored all those travelling during the celebration to plan their journeys and ensure that their vehicles are adequately maintained before embarking on such trips.
Oguntoyinbo also cautioned drivers against overloading and excessive speeding, so that lives and property could be safe during and after the celebration.
