Tinubu orders take-off of FUTA Teaching Hospital

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Mohammad Pate, to put machinery in place for the take-off of Federal University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Akure.

In line with President Tinubu’s order, Prof. Pate has dispatched a team to Ondo State to ascertain what structures are on ground so that the new hospital can be included in the 2025 budget.

Director of Hospital Services, Federal Ministry of Health, Dr. Jimoh Salaudeen, who led the presidential team to Akure, inspected the permanent site where the hospital will be located.

He also inspected Akure Annex of the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital, which will serve as a temporary site for the teaching hospital.

Speaking to reporters after the inspection, Salaudeen said he was confident that the hospital would soon become operational due to available facilities.

Ondo State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Banji Ajaka, said the government was ready to provide support to actualise the president’s directive.
