The Governor of Kaduna State and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Saturday’s governorship election, Ramalan Yero, has called Mallam Nasir El-Rufai of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to congratulate him on his victory at the polls.
A source close to the APC candidate in Kaduna said that Governor Yero spoke with El-Rufai on the telephone Sunday afternoon, just before the final results was announced.
El-Rufai, the former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory maintains a comfortable lead in the results from 19 local government areas released as at press time.
El-Rufai had only dropped three to the Peoples Democratic Party, which fielded the incumbent, Mukhtar Yero and the losses were marginal. He lost in Jaba, Jama’a and Kaura Local Government Areas.
In all, El-Rufai had garnered 514,036 votes, while the PDP had 189,903.
