“We wish to write and congratulate you on your well deserved appointment as member of the presidential committee on Northeast Initiatives (PCNI).

“It is our believe that your distinguished presence on the committee will translate into excellence in the processes of rehabilitation, reconstruction, resettlement, and reintegration of the northeast.

“As an organisation championing the cause of rebuilding and rehabilitation in the region, we wish to avail our platform for partnership for actualization of the planned development agenda in the Northeast,” Shaljaba said in the letter.

Meanwhile, the entire leadership and members of the Network for sustainable development in Borno have also expressed their profound gratitude and appreciation to President Muhammadu Buhari for the inauguration of the presidential committee on Northeast Initiatives (PCNI).

A statement by the group said “the inauguration cannot come at a better time than now, having seen the positive signals of the successes in the prosecution of the war on terror by our gallant forces, making remarkable sacrifices for us all.

“It is our collective belief as victims of insurgency that the committee, having collapsed all the initial interventions of victims support funds (VSF), safe schools initiatives (SSI), presidential initiatives on northeast (PINE) into the present PCNI will translate into proper and better coordination of the rehabilitation, reconstruction, resettlement and reintegration (RRRR) of the people and the regions as we also call for reconciliation to be a key consideration for the committee for peace building and community living.”

The statement by Shaljaba said “Looking at the pedigree of the committee members, and the leadership of the Chairman of the Committee, Gen TY Danjuma, we have no doubt that the committee will jump start the critical phase of rebuilding of the region with the speed it deserves.

“It is our belief that, the combine competence of the men and women in PCNI, the “Buhari Plan” for the Northeast will be completed with the specified time frame for the committee operations.”

Also the group called on all the affected communities, stakeholders and the people of the region to give the committee and all its front line operational officers the needed cooperation and assistance to fast track the processes of resettling our people and revitalization of functional systems and livelihoods in the region.

Equally, the group commended “the recent release of the 21 daughters of ours from the clutches of savages. We commend all that took part in securing their freedom.”

It also stressed that more effort should be deployed in securing all other, known and unknown women and girls that are been abducted against their wish.

Being among the people directly feeling of the effects of terrorism in the nation, the group said it “available as an organisation to champion the community based phase of the programs to fasten the processes for greater results.”
