President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday approved the creation of a new office of Deputy Group Managing Director at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, to be headed by Bernard O.N. Otti, the Corporation’s current Group Executive Director (Finance and Accounts).

Otti is now the new Deputy Group Managing Director/Group Executive Director (Finance and Accounts) of the corporation.

Otti hails from Anambra State and has held senior positions in some of the largest financial institutions in Nigeria and internationally

A statement by Jonathan’s spokesman, Dr. Reuben Abati, said that the new arrangement was in fulfillment of the president’s determined effort at repositioning the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) into a commercially driven entity.

Otti had also served on the boards of numerous public and private institutions.

The new office of Deputy Group Managing Director is expected to strengthen the corporate governance structure of the NNPC.

The office is also to help in ensuring that value for money and return on investment increasingly become key factors in all operational decisions.
