The national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former governor of Lagos, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accused President Goodluck Jonathan of awarding contracts that ought to be under the supervision of the Nigerian customs service to Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo.
Speaking on Thursday during a town hall meeting with artisans in Lagos, Tinubu said the country’s petroleum pipelines had become more vulnerable because the president entrusted them into wrong hands.
“Imagine meters that should be controlled by customs, you turned around and assigned it to Tompolo. And they asked him, ‘Why are you not using this meter?’ He said nobody trusted customs.
“I want you to ask Mr president that question and I am asking him openly. Imagine them stealing 400, 000 barrels of oil on a daily basis. They load it on the high sea and the security agencies cannot arrest them because they don’t have helicopters to patrol and the patrol boat is now Tompolo.
“Now you know why we don’t have money for small things in this country. But the APC government will create long-term money, what you call soft loan; interest-free loan that you can pay gradually.
“I know you people are hardworking and you can excel but all you need is a leadership that is focused, that is disciplined, that is upright, that is Buhari.”
Tinubu also accused the Federal Government of using Gani Adams, factional leader of the Odua Peoples Congress (OPC), to foment trouble in the state.
He urged the people not to be scared but to defend themselves. “Recently, they used one boy called Gani Adams to be fighting posters. Thank God that it is posters that they sent him to be attacking. But if he tries anything with any of you, you know what to do. “Defend yourselves, you have my endorsement.”
