Just In: Borno deputy Governor Umar Mustapha, dies in Adamawa

Borno State Deputy Governor, Zanna Umar Mustapha, is dead.
Mustapha was said to have died in his sleep in Jimeta in Adamawa State.

Mustapha’s death confirmed by one of his Personal Assistants, under strict anonymity, said the aides to the late deputy governor become disturbed when they did not see their boss wake up for the usual early morning prayers.

At about 8am when they forced their way into his room at the official accommodation, he was discovered dead.

Mustapha is due for burial on Saturday (today) in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, at 4pm.

The Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yola, where the late Hannah was said to have been rushed to, has also confirmed the passing away of the deputy governor.

The hospital’s public relations officer, Malam Adamu Dodo, said Zannah’s remain was now in the hospital mortuary.

The deputy governor who has spent the better part of the last two weeks in Adamawa State where he has been receiving those displaced by the Boko Haram crisis in the North East from Cameroon, was in Yola to attend the joint convocation ceremony of the Moddibo Adama University of Technology, Yola.

He was believed to have died of heart failure in the hotel he was lodged along barracks road in Yola.
