The University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu State has been shut.
The management, according to report, asked students to vacate their hostels immediately, without stating the reason for the action.
A source however told our correspondent that although the UNN management said the closure was a temporary break, it was actually meant to avert a planned protest by the students.
Sources said that the students have been faced with acute water scarcity and epileptic power supply for a long time and had planned a massive protest for this week to express their frustrations.
The action of the school management, the source said, was pre-emptive, so as to prevent a total breakdown of law and order within the university environment.
