A former Confederation of African Football, CAF and FIFA Executive Committee Member, Dr. Amos Adamu has said that Coach Stephen Keshi needed to re-enact his magic touch to reposition the Super Eagles.
The Super Eagles had been without a substantive coach, after the expiration of Keshi contract immediately after the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
In the interim, Daniel Amokachi one of Keshi’s assistants handled the Super Eagles in some of the friendly matches the team played against Uganda and South Africa.
After a protracted negotiation, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and Keshi finally arrived at a compromise, in which the former Captain of the team would sign a new contract on April 17.
Adamu said “Keshi needs all the magic now that he his signing a new contract, he needs to qualify the team for all competitions he needs to prove his critics wrong.
“He needs to bring his wealth of experience into play now that the team seems not to be in a good shape, he has so much work to do now.
“He also needs support from all of us we need to allow him concentrate we should not distract him.
“When he is in charge he his liable to take all the blame but when there is interference he has an excuse,” Adamu said.
