Lagos begins airlifting pilgrims back home Sept. 27

The Lagos State government has concluded arrangement to begin the movement of pilgrims back home on the 27th September, 2016. The Airlifting will take three days of back- to- back loading of passengers.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Dr.Abdul Hakeem Abdul Lateef during a briefing of the pilgrims on the next line of action after completing the hajj rites in Makkah.

Dr. Abdul Lateef urged pilgrimp to be patient and cooperate with the government on the manifest issued showing the movement arrangement of pilgrims.

“There is no sentiment in the arrangement, pilgrims will be airlifted back to Nigeria based on the sequence of their arrival into Saudi Arabia and as scheduled by National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON)”.

The Commissioner also disclosed that the distribution of a- 32Kg bag to pilgrim has commenced to help them get their luggage ready for loading.

“You will be allowed to carry 38Kg as a result of the state gesture to offer additinal 6Kg for each pilgrim and an 8Kg hand luggage. Any extra Kg outside this will be paid for according to the airline management,” he declared.

He however, implored pilgrims to check the manifest to confirm their day of movement and report any irsegularities to the board representatives for neccessary action.

The Executiuve Secretary, Muftau Okoya urged pilgrims to use the waiting period to reflect on their ways of life, intensify effort in praying for themselves, family,state and the country.

“Now that you have a new soul, be patient, prayerful and stay from those habits that deeds that you know are not acceptable on the path of Allah”. he stated.

He assured pilgrims of the determination and commitment of the state government to ensure that the right sequence is followed by NAHCON & the Airline operators in returning pilgrims home.

Okoya hinted that in anticipation of the movement, weighing of luggages will start tomorrow, 18th September and loading will follow immediately.

He cautioned pilgrims to desist from carrying prohibited items while packing their loads.The items include sharp objects, liquid products, perfumes, metals, gas, hot plates.

“Lagos state will not condole any act of lawlessness”, he reminded pilgrims,while enjoining them to remain as good ambassadors of the state.
