Lagos declares Friday work-free for PVC collection

The governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola, has declared Friday, February 6 as work free day in order for civil servants in the employment of the state to collect their permanent voter card.

In a statement signed by Head of Service, Oluseyi Williams, the state government said it was of the firm belief that civil servants had very important roles to play in the proper enthronement of democracy in the country.

The governor also appealed to organised private sector to release their employees early in order for them to collect their voter cards.

the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) earlier on Thursday announced via its twitter handle that the collection of PVCs would close on Sunday, February 8.

Imo, Yobe, Edo and Niger states have also declared Friday as work free.
