The Lagos State Government on Friday said that the Lagos Water Corporation had resumed production and supply of water across the state.

A statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Steve Ayorinde, apologised for the discomfort and inconveniences caused during the disruption of water supply in the last few weeks.

“The government sincerely appreciates the patience and understanding displayed by the general public,” Ayorinde said.

He said that the unrelenting efforts of the government were geared toward ensuring quality, improvement and safety of water supply for the benefit of the residents.

“Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has empowered the Lagos Water Corporation to ensure a smooth and safe discharge of its duties.

“We sincerely regret the disruption and assure the general public of safe and regular potable water supply,” he said.

Lagos State Government has assured residents in the state that the challenges relating to public water supply currently being experienced in some parts of the metropolis will soon become a thing of the past.

The State Commissioner for the Environment, Babatunde Adejare, had on Monday attributed the difficulties Lagosians were experiencing in accessing public water supply to technical hitches.

He had assured that efforts were being made to address them once and for all.

The commissioner had also said that the state government was on course to deliver 733 million gallons per day of clean and portable water by 2020 so as to ensure residents are safe and healthy.
