The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation to no fewer than 23 academic programmes of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomosho.
The commission’s letter dated August 14 sent to the institution made available to journalists in Ibadan on Friday, titled ‘Results of the May/June, 2018 accreditation of academic programmes in Nigerian Universities’ was signed by the Executive Secretary, Prof Abubakar Rasheed.
The letter also gave interim accreditation to five others, in the aftermath of the accreditation exercise organised for the Institution in May/June.
According to the commission’s letter, the full accreditation status would be valid for a period of five years while those granted interim accreditation would be valid for two years after which the programmes are revisited.
Some of the courses granted full accreditation included Medicine and Surgery, Nursing, Physiology, Medical Laboratory Science, Anatomy, Accounting, Marketing, Transport Management, Agriculture and Food Science.
Also granted full accreditation were Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Food Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering as well as Mechanical Engineering.
Others are Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning, Computer Science, Biochemistry, Mathematics, Pure and Applied Biology, Pure and Applied Chemistry, Science Laboratory Technology as well as Earth Sciences (Geology)
Among the five programmes granted interim accreditations were Agricultural Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Fine and Applied Arts, Pure and Applied Physics as well as Statistics.
